Four Houston Dynamo players called up for international games 

DaMarcus Beasley selected for CONCACAF Cup against Mexico

 

 

Four Houston Dynamo players – Giles Barnes, DaMarcus Beasley, Boniek García and Luis Garrido – have been called up by their national teams for next week’s international games. The players will join their teams following Sunday’s game at FC Dallas and are scheduled to be back with the Dynamo to prepare for the club’s next league game against the Seattle Sounders on Oct. 18at BBVA Compass Stadium.

 

 

Beasley joins the United States for the CONCACAF Cup against Mexico on Oct. 10 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. The winner of the one-game playoff will represent CONCACAF at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia. The match, pitting the winners of the last two Gold Cups, is the first one-game playoff for the region’s Confederations Cup berth in CONCACAF history.

 

 

Beasley, 33, has made 122 appearances for the U.S. (fifth most) and is tied for ninth in U.S. history with 17 goals and tied for ninth with 13 assists. The left back is the first American to play at four FIFA World Cups after starting four games at the 2014 edition. Beasley has made at least one appearance for the U.S. in 15 consecutive years (2001-15) and captained the United States to the Gold Cup title in 2013, his fourth Gold Cup championship (2002, 2005, 2007, and 2013).

 

 

García and Garrido join the Honduras national team for two friendly matches, beginning Oct. 8 against Guatemala in Tegucigalpa. Next, Los Catrachos host South Africa on Oct. 13 in San Pedro Sula. García has 101 caps for Honduras while Garrido has made 32 appearances for his country.

 

 

Barnes joins Jamaica for a friendly match against the Republic of Korea on Oct. 13 in Seoul for the first game between the countries since 1998. Barnes has three goals in 12 appearances with Jamaica after making his Reggae Boyz debut in March. The Dynamo attacker started all six games and scored twice as Jamaica reached its first CONCACAF Gold Cup final in July.
